Why is Feedback Important?
People need feedback because most people don't see themselves as others see them. Feedback is essential to their learning, professional development and performance improvement.
What is Multi-Source (360) Feedback and what are its Best Uses?
Multi-source feedback is an efficient, computer-based system for gathering measurements of an individual’s or groups’ competence from a variety of sources such as bosses, customers, peers and co-workers.
It is most commonly used 4 ways:
- Measuring hard-to-quantify aspects of performance
- Needs assessment
- Organizational surveys
- Performance review
What are the Major Benefits of Using 360 Feedback?
There are many benefits to the employer doing the evaluating, to the employee receiving the evaluation and even to co-workers of the employee receiving the evaluation. It is the most effective method available for giving people information about aspects of their competence that are otherwise hard to measure.
What are the Major Concerns about Using 360 Feedback?
Though 360 feedback is an excellent evaluation system, there are some key elements that must be in place for it to be effective in a workplace. These key elements are: organizational readiness, faith in its confidentiality, trust in the process, follow-up with action, and caution around linking it to compensation.
